I've been meaning to write this post for a long time, if only for my own reflection on my progress on this artist's journey. Over the past year I've had the wonderful pleasure and gift to learn from an amazing artist and now friend, Margaret Chiaro. I've admired her artistry, and, full disclosure, am a collector.
I've learned so much about working with oil, not just brush and various techniques, but how to see light, color and value and bring a painting to life through perspective, depth and use of color.
Perhaps the biggest lesson I learned was patience and perseverance. Well, I'm still working on that. Forever grateful for all the knowledge shared and freedom to experiment.
And just like life, sometimes you have to take it slow, take a step back to see where you are to know where you're going. And then, press on.
